Insurance

Do you accept my insurance?

We are in-network with and accept Aetna, Blue Cross / Blue Shield, Careington, Cigna, Delta Dental, Guardian, Metlife, Principal, United Concordia, and United Healthcare. We accept other PPOs as out-of-network providers. As an out-of-network provider, the insurance company will often cover 50-80% of the costs of treatment depending on your plan. If you have any further questions about insurance, please contact us via phone or email for specific answers.

How can I check if you’re in-network?

Your insurance carrier has a website that allows you to look up in-network providers by zip code.

Do you estimate my benefits?

We re-verify insurance benefits before every scheduled dental check-up appointment, and your insurance carrier tells us your plan’s coverage for each type of dental code. When we make you a treatment plan, that coverage is automatically applied to the codes to give us an accurate estimate of your co-pays. Additionally, for larger cases we will also send a pre-authorization to your insurance to get written confirmation of the amounts the insurance carrier will pay.

What if my insurance carrier doesn’t pay their portion?

If the insurance denies the claim, we will re-submit it with additional materials and this often results in the insurance approving the claim. However if the insurance carrier repeatedly denies coverage, you will be responsible for the amount the insurance was expected to cover.

I have two insurance plans - how does that affect my coverage?

One insurance carrier is deemed the “primary” and that insurance carrier is billed first. Then, the claim is sent to the secondary insurance and if there is any remaining balance that is the patient’s responsibility.

What if my insurance expires?

Most insurances expire at the end of a month, so if you know your insurance is set to expire in a given month it is highly recommended to schedule a visit to use whatever benefits are remaining. Orthodontic procedures specifically are paid out by insurances monthly or quarterly and require you to remain covered by the plan for the duration of treatment. If your insurance expires during treatment, any balance remaining after insurance non-payment for any reason becomes the patient's responsibility.
